Yet again I have been unbelievably lazy in getting this thing updated and I do find myself annoyed by this fact but what are you going to do. The only things of late that have occurred is the fact that I have started exercising on a regular basis.
It started when I was informed by my brother that The Ship, the pub in which I spend much of my time getting paid to serve people drink has memberships to the local health club which all staff can use (and some ex-staff apparently with my brother abusing the membership as well.) Following my acquisition of proper swimming attire i.e a skin tight version of board shorts, something I feel is most appropriate to swim laps in, I started swimming. I started off doing 100 laps, moved up to 120 but have since dropped back down to 60 laps. This is not out of laziness as I could probably easily do more than 120 but I have also started developing my upper body strength, something for most of my life I have had no measurable value of.
So my planned routine is something along these lines
Monday - Leg muscles.
Tuesday - 60 laps.
Wednesday - Back and biceps.
Thursday - 60 laps.
Friday - Chest and triceps.
So that's five days a week working out at the gym and whilst this may seem like a lot....and it is....considering the fact that its free gym membership, I currently weigh 87.2kg and am in probably the best shape I have been in for a long time, I am more than happy to put in the time.

There are times in a person's life that we all wish that we could get rid of or change and make better and I'm no exception. There are many times I wish I could go back and change something but what is important is that we learn from past mistakes and then move forward. I seem to struggle with that.
A lot of me has changed since I got to London. With a new haircut, clothing style (somewhat) and fitter and more muscular body, the changes are good solid steps forward but they have been external. My mind hasn't moved forward at all and I think it's time it did.
I do have a plan for this endeavor. It's a big step and I have no doubt it will be scary for me to do, but it's something I have to do. So much of me is telling me what I plan to do is a mistake, but I think it's a mistake I have to make.

As part of my now current pledge to update this more than infrequently, I have decided to speak about the recent bank holiday sunday that came to pass at The Ship.
This Sunday that came to pass was always going to be a big one. The Ship's record for one day sales was that same day the year before so we knew it was going to be huge. But let's start my day from the start.
I got up and decided that I had to go to for a swim before I started work. Many may consider this mad, my own boss Johnny asked "Are you mental?" when I meantioned the concept, but I needed to relax and swimming helps me do that. I was to inside my own mind and it was going a hundred miles an hour so I needed to calm it down. I did about 40 minutes of solid swimming. No counting of laps, no stopping. I just got in and swam and it worked. By the time I started work, I was relaxed.
Once I got on the bar, business pretty much picked up immediately, before I knew it 3 hours had passed and I was ready to a break. Fortunately I was due for one as soon as the restaurant bar was open. The restaurant bar was simple a unique feature we had for the night in which we shut down the restaurant and turned the kitchen area into a bottle and spirit bar. Very useful for making an additional profit. So once that opened, I went on my twenty minute break and waited for the moment I would be jumping on the lovely restaurant bar.
Unfortunately this did not come to pass. Apparently the four people they had on the bar was enough to handle the crowd so I was mandated to the main bar. "Damnation" was my immediate thought but with the number of people we had on and with the area I was working, I thought this might still be a good night. However I got lucky. Johnny informed me that if I wanted to I could jump onto the Doolali bar, an opportunity that I eagerly took up. Doolali is the outside bar that the ship has and I was very excited to get out there for a number of reasons. Firstly it is a much cooler place to work. With the river breeze and being outside, you are not generating as much of a sweat than inside a pub crammed with people. Secondly, since we had three people on the Doolali bar and three windows in which to work, it is impossible to get stressed about who you are serving next. The fact of the matter is this; the max amount of people in a row you can have at any window is 4 and you know the order in which they got there. Thus you know who you are serving next and there are no aggravated customers claiming they got there first. Lastly, there is a little bit more room to work with only three people and less stock to deal with. I'm not going to sit here and say I wasn't thankful to get off the main bar and into Doolali. With me being kicked off the restaurant bar, Doolali was a damn close second in terms of places I wanted to be. The main bar I most certainly could have dealt with, but with the age old saying, less is more, me being removed may have been a good thing because with the number of people we had behind the main bar, the staff were tripping over each other and to be honest, slowing each other down.
The serving period came to an end, which brought about the inevitable clean-up; something which took a good three and a bit hours to do. But in the end, the night was over, the place was clean and The Ship had a new personal and Youngs record - taking the most amount of money in a day.
This amount: over £53,000.
