Why Yahtzee Why

Before looking at the post for today, I would encourage you to look at these two items as they are the motivation for it.

Ctrl Alt Del Newspost

I am really disappointed with how Yahtzee has approached his video this week. I agree the number of gaming comics on the internet is quite vast and the idea to mock the process and cliches that are found within them is at the very least an interesting idea. His review started quite nicely, explaining that you do not need to know how to draw to be a good webcomic artist. However from that point onwards, it quickly descended into a torrent of abuse seemlingly directed at Ctrl+Alt+Del which pissed me off in a manner similar to being stuck behind an retarded old man driving 20km below the speed limit on a one lane road. This may not have been the intention but it happened anyway with the characters that are needed in a webcomic according to Yahtzee being described suspiciously like Ethan, Lucas and Lilah; and the attack on the topic of miscarriage in a comic being a very bad idea which was very recently done by CAD in recent strips was not exactly subtle.

The at minimum dislike of Ctrl+Alt+Del and at most completed hatred of the comic that Yahtzee has is not unknown to me. I have seen in one review his cartoon cutout throwing darts into the head of Tim Buckley and in another abusing the amount of dialog in a comic using a CAD panel as an example. And thats fine, people know what they like and do not like and he clearly does not like the comic. The point I am trying to make here is that if you going to do a commentary on webcomics you should just sit down and abuse many, not just one. He may have been trying to acheive this but he failed in a manner similar to applying the label of trendy and hip to James May.

I would like to very briefly address the miscarriage story line recently addressed by Buckley in his comic to which I say I am fine with it. I accept that such a topic is sensitive one indeed and should not be taken lightly but I believe the approach taken by Buckley is one that gave the issue the respect it deserves. I will still continue to read the comics and he will still have my continued support.

As for Yahtzee, I will still continue to watch his reviews and inevitably enjoy them. I respect that he is a critic and he has the right to say what he likes. I sincerly hope that this post does not have me come across as an angry fan boy as that was not my intention. It was more me taking a chance to be a critic of a critic.

Wipeout is awesome

Just been watching TV and saw Wipeout on Channel 9. Its essentially an american version of Takeshis Castle with hilarious comedy. Pity its on the same time as new simpsons but ah well, still brilliant.

After over a year(at least) of downloading, I have finally acquired every episode of Dragonball Z. This was acquired in one torrent, over 58gb, and now its done and ALL mine. :D

On another note, after three weeks of working at work every day, I plan to drop off the grid for the next few days. I will be turning off my phone, not checking my email; I will just be sitting on my arse playing video games for a ridiculous amount of time straight. Good times it will be.

Smacks head on desk

Sigh.....

I am soooo not ready to go back to uni.

After having my holiday thwarted by work in which they got me working 7 days a week. I admit that four of those days were only four hours but its still enough to mess with you and combined with my normal work, i was doing about 34 hours a week. Close to the normal of 38.5.

And despite taking most of last week off, I do not feel like I have had a chance to truly relax and as George Costanza would say, decompress.

Oh well, I am sure that in a few weeks I will be back into it but until then

Sigh.......

Still smacking head on desk
